Marijan Grk-Prč 2023

A wine production with a large share of manual labor, from the vineyard through the cellar and winery to the filling and packaging. Truly limited in quantity and devoted to his vineyards on some of the best terroirs on the island of Hvar, Tonči Marijan is an iconic, hard-to-get, Plavac Mali interpreter. His “Vron Bod“, named after the vineyard, won the first-ever Decanter Gold for Plavac Mali. But, it would be wrong not to use any opportunity to experience his work with other local (Bogdanuša, Grk, Prč, Pošip) and international (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) varieties.

A unique blend of the aromatic Prč and the powerful Grk from Hvar is a harmony of floral elegance and commanding strength. A pale golden hue is releasing a bouquet that intertwines the fragrant charm of Muscat with the mineral undertones of Grk. The nose is alive with aromas of white blossoms, ripe citrus, and a touch of sweet melon, all laced with a subtle hint of wild herbs. On the palate, the wine revelas Prč’s delicate, fragrant character providing a graceful lift, while Grk’s intensity grounds it with a firm structure and rich texture. Flavors of honeyed pear, lemon zest, and apricot would unfold, carried by a gentle salinity, enhancing its complexity. A new whole is indeed an unique combination of a thirst-quencher and of a deep nourishment, impeccably leaving a lasting impression of both strength and finesse.
