Marijan Vron Bod Plavac 2012

- +
$429.99

A wine production with a large share of manual labor, from the vineyard through the cellar and winery to the filling and packaging. Truly limited in quantity and devoted to his vineyards on some of the best terroirs on the island of Hvar, Tonči Marijan is an iconic, hard-to-get, Plavac Mali interpreter. His “Vron Bod“, named after the vineyard, won the first-ever Decanter Gold for Plavac Mali. But, it would be wrong not to use any opportunity to experience his work with other local (Bogdanuša, Grk, Prč, Pošip) and international (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) varieties.

With its high alcohol content, the Vron Bod showcases Tonči Marijan’s philosophy of leaving the Plavac Mali grape untamed and full of character. Vron Bod is a “Grand Cru” vineyard on famous Ivan Dolac position, and 2012 is a prime vintage. Wines from this micro-location range from 15 – 16,8 % of alcohol and significant amount of residual sugar that balances naturally and appears as fruit ripeness. 15% of alcohol is barely noticeable, and ripe tannins feel velvety, revealing layers of ideally ripened Plavac mali substance.
