It started as a passion for wine and a belief that Croatia has grapes capable of producing stunning wines. Through months of discussions around equipment, grape selection, winemaking processes, and what direction to go with the wines, it was decided that Markus Wines would become the focus of a team approach to maintaining the history of centuries of growing grapes in Croatian while relentlessly pursuing excellence in winemaking. For this to happen, everything starts with the soil and a healthy, sustainable natural environment.

A tribute to Dalmatia’s deep-rooted past, this Maraština appears pale gold in the glass, it opens with aromas of ripe orchard fruits—golden apple, and a touch of quince—mingled with wild herbs and a soft floral note, as if the vineyards themselves are in bloom. There’s a quiet richness to it, giving the wine a warmth and depth that feels timeless. On the palate, it is smooth and elegant, with flavors of juicy peach, honeyed citrus, and a faint touch of almond. A subtle minerality runs beneath, reflecting the rocky soil from which it grows, while a delicate thread of acidity brings balance, keeping it lively and refreshing. Maraština is a wine of quiet grace, not overpowering but captivating in its simplicity.
