Mili Moj Plavac mali 2017

Stoviš agricultural cooperative operates in Ston, in the area of Dubrovnik-Neretva County and produces olive oil and local wine. The cooperative employs 7 people and is focused on producing the best olive oil and wine from its micro-location in Peljesac. Grapes for this wine are from position Mili. Position Mili dates back to the Dubrovnik Republic. Wines with on this micro-location are affected by the wind that often blows from the direction of Ston, to be exact from Ston salt fields. These vineyards are among the rare ones that were not devastated by phylloxera in the 19th century. Mili is a position of unique microclimate characteristics, southern exposure on the Peljesac peninsula. Similar as well known and protected positions of Dingac and Postup, but a little further south to even more unreachable terrain.

Wine notes

Winery PZ Stoviš
Country Croatia
Region Dalmatia
Variety Plavac mali
Category Red wines
  • Herbs
  • Plum
  • Rosemary
  • Salt

Dark ruby color, medium to full body and bouquet of black fruit and beeswax, a classic Plavic Mali. On the nose Mediterranean herbs, wild fennel, rosemary, littoral,
sea salt with a hint of smoke. On the palate, the tannins are still powerful suggesting there are years of development ahead of it. It is best to open a few hours before drinking. The wine becomes more balanced, softer and much better for drinking. It is reminiscent of a type of Barolo that has an animal odor in it. However, if left to breathe after a while the smell disappears and an excellent specimen of indigenous plavac mali variety remains. Excellent value for money.

  • Carbonara
  • Game meat
  • Hard cheese
  • Meat risotto
