Rizman Brime Plavac mali 2020

The wine growing tradition in the Štimac family goes back to the beginning of the 20th century. The first vineyards were planted in 1918 by the great grandfather of the current generation of the Štimac family, Mihovil Mijo Popich, known by his nickname Rizman. The Rizman winery started its production in 2006, skipping an entire generation of the Štimac family. A new vineyard was planted in new locations, in Komarna, Dalmatia. The necessary infrastructure was built and a completely new wine growing region was created in Croatia. The Štimac family is the first investor and ideological initiator of the new wine growing region, which included more than 80 hectares of vine plants in 2012. After planting the vine and constructing the infrastructure, a winery with modern equipment was also built in the vineyard. It bears the name Rizman in memory of the first winemaker in the Štimac family.

Wine notes

Winery Rizman Winery
Country Croatia
Region Dalmatia
Variety Plavac mali
Category Red wines
Bottle size 0.75 L
  • Blueberry
  • Cherry
  • Fig
  • Plum

Brime is aged in used barrique oak barrels, made from French oak that gives it a subtler and gentler oak expression. The fruit in Brime is consistent, very straightforward. Plums and dark cherries, not overripe. What’s amazing about Komarna is the specific terroir signature found there; a mineral, crushed stone feel. The full potential of the Plavac Mali grape variety approached more carefully and accentuated by the inspiring terroir signature. This is a Plavac style that will be enjoyed everywhere, no matter summer or winter.
